1. Eat smaller portions but more often. Just be careful so that you do not increase your total calorie intake. Choose health energy bars, fruit, and even sugary snacks as long as you do not eat them too often. If you normally eat three times per day, break those three meals into five or six smaller meals and eat every three hours. This will help your body control your blood sugar levels and keep your energy levels up.
2. Walk instead or driving. Park further from the store and walk, take the dog to the park, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Go a for a brisk 20-minute walk in the morning, lunchtime and evening every day. Short bouts of exercise every day will increase your metabolism more than one long walk.
3. Eat breakfast every day! If you sleep through the whole night and then deprive the body of food in the morning it will sense a potential food shortage and try to hold on to your stored body fat. Get your metabolism going early by eating a healthy breakfast every morning.
4. Do some light exercise in the morning. Even if it is just a short walk around the block or a few exercises at home, starting the day with exercise and breakfast is a good way to boost your metabolism. Consistant exercise in the morning will help control your appetite all day long.
5. Watch less TV. Researchers has found that the metabolic rate while watching TV drops below the normal resting-rate. Even reading uses more energy, believe it or not.
Doing very easy things like the above tips as a regular routine to boost your body metabolism will help you lose a few extra pounds over a year without you even feeling it.
